Not something that we do.

Thinking today about how living by faith is not so much what you do as why you do it.

From my prayer journal:

Faith is not something we do. It is a response to what God has done already on our behalf – the response of a spirit restless in a fragmented world.

Focusing on keeping the law is an effort to save yourself – not acting in faith as a response to what God has already done.

Living by faith is not so much about what you try not to do, based on a list of do’s & don’t’s but rather, following God’s still small voice to what He would have you do, because of your faith in him – what he’s already done and that he knows best what to do next.

Easier said than done, but that’s why it’s faith and not knowledge.

It takes a lot of trust, and involves some mystery & risk. But God is bigger than all of it.
